Our Technology
In Addison, Frisco, Dallas, McKinney and Plano, Texas
CEREC – CEREC (Chairside Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) technology means that porcelain restorations now take minutes instead of weeks. With CEREC you won’t have to return to the dentist’s office multiple times, saving you time and generally making life easier.
In one visit, you can have restorations or creations of:
- Inlays
- Onlays
- Posterior Crowns
- Anterior Crowns
- Partial Crowns
- Veneers
ZOOM! WHITENING – ZOOM! Is an in-office teeth whitening system that can professionally brighten your teeth by several shades in just one visit. This is much safer and works much better than over-the-counter whitening toothpastes or bleaching strips.
DEEP BLEACHING –Deep bleaching is the strongest and most effective way to whiten severely discolored teeth. It requires two weeks and multiple visits to complete, but once you see the results you will be amazed at how much whiter your teeth have become
SOFT TISSUE LASER – This laser is used to recontour your gums to fix “gummy smiles” or the appearance of uneven tooth sizes.
K7 Evaluation System – If you come to us with TMD or TMJ symptoms, Dr. Avant or Dr. Ragnell may use the K7 System to diagnose whether you do indeed have TMD or TMJ. This system will do three things:
- Measure and record the electrical activity of the jaw muscles
- Measure and record your jaw muscle movements
- Record the jaw joint sounds when your lower jaw moves
The information will provide the data needed to make an accurate diagnosis and start planning your customized TMD treatment.
TENS Unit – A Transcutaneous Electrical Neural Stimulation (TENS) unit is used in TMD treatment by helping to relax the muscles of the head, jaw, and neck. This helps determine the relationship the jaw and skull have and what may be causing pain. It also relieves pain by mildly stimulating the muscles through the use of electrodes attached to the head, jaw, and neck.
DIAGNOdent – A harmless laser that spots even the smallest tooth decay. This helps you and your dentist fight the decay long before it becomes a serious problem.
Digital Panoramic and Intra-Oral X-ray –This direct-to-digital machine means no film is involved. The data goes directly from the machine to the computer for instant results. Because the digital sensors are much more sensitive than their film counterpart, MUCH LESS RADIATION is required for a diagnostic image. It also means that there are NO HARMFUL CHEMICALS required that could contaminate the environment
Dental Microscope – Smile ‘n Share It uses the Zeiss Pro Magis dental and surgical microscope. What this means to our patients is that the doctor can visualize your cosmetic dentistry procedure under 30X magnification providing extremely precise results. It also is used in endodontics when a root canal is called for.
We strive to use the best equipment available in all fields of dentistry. If you have any questions about the technology we use, please contact our Plano, Texas office. Dr. Avant and Dr. Ragnell will be happy to answer any questions you have.
