Sedation & Sleep Dentistry FAQ's
In the Dallas area
Will I be "knocked out" during my sedation appointment?
No. When you are sedated during your sedation appointment, you will not be unconscious. The type of sedative used will allow you to be conscious enough to respond to commands and control your own breathing. However, many patients are so relaxed during their sedation appointment that they fall asleep during the procedure, and will not even remember much of their visit.
Am I a good candidate for sedation?
To determine if you are a good candidate for sedation, the best thing to do is schedule an initial consultation with Dr. Avant in Plano, Texas. During your initial consultation, Dr. Avant will discuss with you why you are considering sedation, evaluate the health of your teeth, and evaluate your overall health. After your initial consultation, Dr. Avant will be able to tell you if sedation is the best option for you.
